Wearable and Whimsical Fiber Art

I have had a lifelong engagement with many aspects and types of fiber related crafting making. My earliest memory was sewing on a treadle sewing machine. My first knitted afghan when I was preteen and then made my own clothing throughout high school. My mother was a major influence working on crochet thread in such fine detail. She showed me how to sew, knit and crochet at a young age. I was an active member of 4-H and qualified to go to state competition for sewing garments in middle school. My career was in the military where there is limited to no color in our uniforms. So, my fiber art provides me the freedom to use any and all colors I desire. Over the years I have done many different crafts and most recently have worked with various yarns and various felted wool types and methodologies. I have been involved in three large scale community "yarn bombing" projects and most recently a sewing project in Spring 2019 for visiting artist Amada Browder who created a large-scale fabric installation for the facade of Arlington Art Center on exhibit from June 22 to July 21, 2019. I continue to look for new techniques and applications of fabric, yarn and wool.
